The Census Project

The results of the 1990 census will influence community debate and public policy for many years to come. The purpose of the Urban Coalition's Census Project is to give community organizations, neighborhood groups and individuals information that can help them organize their communities, educate the public, plan projects and gain financial support. We help people analyze and understand what the census is saying about their neighborhood or community or about issues they are facing. We also publish special reports to promote awareness and discussion of conditions and challenges facing low-income people and communities of color.

Acknowledgements

The Census Project is funded by grants from the Northwest Area Foundation and the Bush I Foundation. We would like to thank the American Indian Research and Policy Institute for inviting us to prepare this information for the Institute's May, 1994 conference on "American Indian Youth and Children's Issues: A Reflection of the Last 20 Years."
