Its Time For Native Americans To Step Up And Out

Native Americans are subsidized by the U.S. government in many ways and yet they still are poorer and less educated than the general population. For some reason, one of the only things they seem to excel at is building and operating casinos.

With unemployment rates so high across America, the job prospects for the Native population are quite limited. Without college degrees, most employers will not take a second look at a group of people who haven’t taken it upon themselves to go out ant better themselves.

Teenagers who are Native Americans don’t stand much chance unless they are able to somehow breakout of the pattern set by their elders. And for any teenager no matter what ethnic group they belong to, times are tough with jobs being scarce and college being prohibitively costly. Todays teens who need jobs are often just plain out of luck.

Why some ethnic groups historically have done well (Asians) in America and others have lagged behind (Native Indians, Hispanic) is a big mystery. But one thing is clear: anyone who has initiative in this country CAN succeed. All they need is a strong determination to work harder than the person standing next to them.
